Research Analyst – Emerging and Frontier Europe markets

Job description

We are looking for a research analyst to strengthen our Emerging and Frontier Europe public equities investment team. The primary responsibility of the analyst will be to provide support for senior investment managers in the Balkan region, including Turkey, Greece and Romania. The ideal candidate will have a background in one of the markets including language skills, as well as knowledge of how different businesses operate, fundamental analysis, financial modelling and equity valuation. The analyst will be based in Stockholm. 

 

Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Research across designated markets and industries with focus on individual stocks
  • Identify and recommend investment opportunities through comprehensive stock picking as well as monitoring current holdings
  • Performing fundamental research of individual companies by analysing company financials, interacting with management teams and building own valuation models and peer analysis
  • Top-down macroeconomic analysis to understand broader market trends and their potential impact on investments
  • ESG analysis of companies and preparation of relevant engagement with companies to improve their sustainability profiles
  • Travelling across the region, represent East Capital in high level company meetings, conferences and other relevant events
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry contacts to gauge local market sentiment and gather valuable insights
  • Supporting the team by contributing to and updating relevant internal and external presentations and reports

 

Qualifications / skills

  • University degree in Finance/Economics
  • Keen interest in financial markets and investments
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
  • Relevant experience in investment analysis, fundamental equity research on the buy/sell side
  • Proficiency in financial modelling and valuation techniques
  • Ability to analyse macroeconomic environment
  • Experience in relevant regional stock markets, preferably Turkey
  • Knowledge of ESG analysis and processes is a plus
  • Ability to “command” software such as Excel and Bloomberg/Refinitiv (Work Space) as opposed to an ability to simply “use” them
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong networking skills and the ability to build and maintain professional relationships
  • Fluency in English is a must, a language of the region is a strong advantage
  • CFA charter or work towards it is preferred, but not a must

As a person, you are analytical and able to synthesise a wide range of information sources to draw high quality conclusions supported by rigorous analysis.
